Software Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer

This company is a venture-funded startup, and is currently seeking a Software QA Engineer to perform in a key software quality role. The company makes products that are at the leading edge of content management and information identification or analysis. This is accomplished for purposes of optimizing application and human performance in the areas of information search and retrieval, business asset management and information collaboration.

This person reports to the Manager of Software Quality Assurance.

Software QA Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Passion for testing and the ability to work independently on diverse problems.
  • Team orientation and leadership potential.
  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Diverse interests and a passion for technology.
  • Very good written and spoken English.
  • Building and maintaining a strong relationship with the network operations, software engineering, customer support, and product description (web-based information or “technical writing”) team to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Other duties as assigned by the management of the company who may have responsibility for the person performing in this role.

The ideal candidate will also have demonstrated the following abilities:

  • Baccalaureate degree (Bachelor’s Degree) in CS or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of Windows/Unix/Linux.
  • Working knowledge of shell scripting.
  • Working knowledge of Perl or other scripting languages.
  • Knowledge of C/C++, Java or Ruby on Rails a plus.
  • Knowledge of Internet/Web technologies, such as web browsers, http, and html a plus.
  • Testing software in a distributed networking environment.
  • Automation testing experience.
  • 2+ years of software testing experience in general.
